Exploring Kizilay and Ulus

Hi again!

Just got done having home-cooked Turkish dinner at home - lamb, tomatoes, eggplant and yoghurt. Hahaha notice we're still eating from plastic plates! Kontena belum sampai-mah!

It's  abt 9pm here and maghrib has just entered at abt 8:40pm. Isyak here is pretty late too - abt tennish ! Got a flyer the other day in our mailbox informing us of the prayer times for Ramadhan ...would you believe it Imsak is at 3:40 am. We're still debating whether to stay up and have our sahur at twelvish or wake up and eat at 3am! Macam baru nak lelap tidur - nak bangun makan.....

Took the local bus and explored Kizilay and Ulus  a few days ago-  abt a half an ride from Oran Park and costs only 2 TL (RM4) per way.

Yes, we still have not got our car yet so it's public transport for us for now. Kizilay's nice - lots of modern stuff, trendy clothes etc..but the sidelanes, and the lorong-lorong kat belakang-belakang main street yang interesting. You have quaint sidewalk cafes and parks where people just sit and relax, drinking cay (tea) and locals selling some handcrafts and some cheap stuff (form China!).

Went to Ulus, a few days later - its maybe abt ten mins down the road  from Kizilay and costs 2TL on the bus. It's a small but bustling quarter of Ankara but there's more to see and do. here compared to Kizilay -  the Museum of Anatolian Civilization, the Ankara Citadel , the Julian Column etc are all situated around the area.

Managed only to stroll around the bazaar and the fresh market at Ulus.

The bazaar and the fresh market are to to be missed. The vendors are really friendly - if we only knew what the were saying! You would definitely want to spend a day at the very least here...!

Well, going agian tomorrow (Sat) to Ulus because apparently we had missed a large area of the bazaar in another part of Ulus!
